Rare Disease and the Right to Be Treated

This session at Riga Stradiņš University Research Week will explore current advances and challenges in rare disease research and clinical practice. Topics will include pediatric rare diseases, amyloidosis in adults, pulmonary hypertension, molecular diagnostics, and access to healthcare for people living with rare diseases. Particular attention will be given to the challenges of ensuring timely access to innovative therapies, including the limited availability of medicines for rare disease patients. The session will highlight the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration and personalised approaches to diagnosis, treatment, and care across the lifespan.
