Olli Carpén

Olli Carpén, MD, PhD, is Professor Emeritus of Pathology at the University of Helsinki and Principal Investigator of the Precision Cancer Pathology research group. His research focuses on cancer pathology and the development of biomarkers for improved cancer diagnosis, prognostication and treatment selection. His group combines molecular pathology with digital pathology, image analysis and machine-learning approaches to identify clinically relevant features in tumour tissue.

Professor Carpén has a long-standing research interest in translational cancer pathology, including ovarian and other solid tumours, and has contributed extensively to research linking tumour biology and tissue-based biomarkers with clinical outcomes. He is currently affiliated with the Department of Pathology at Medicum, University of Helsinki, and the Precision Cancer Pathology research group.
