Resilience in an Age of Transformation

Contemporary societies face multiple interconnected challenges, including climate change, geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty, and rapid technological development. These transformations are reshaping how we understand security, democracy, sustainability, and wellbeing. Building resilient societies requires new knowledge, innovative solutions, and effective collaboration between researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and citizens.

This conference explores how societies can respond to accelerating change while maintaining democratic values, social cohesion, and environmental sustainability. Attention is given to three interconnected areas: democracy and governance, security and public policy, sustainability and digital transformation. We invite contributions that examine how democratic institutions can remain effective, inclusive, and resilient in times of crisis; how societies can address emerging security challenges while preserving transparency, accountability, and public trust; and how environmental, climate, and digital transitions can support resilience while balancing ecological, social, and economic priorities.

The conference also welcomes research investigating the tensions between continuity and change in processes of societal transformation, as well as the evolving role of science in generating evidence, informing decision-making, and fostering meaningful engagement between researchers and society. Through interdisciplinary dialogue, the conference seeks to advance knowledge on pathways toward more resilient, fair, sustainable, and secure futures.
