Ingrida Balnytė

Professor Ingrida Balnyte finished her doctoral studies in Kaunas Medical Academy Faculty of Medicine (the present Lithuanian University of Health Sciences) in 1996, and obtained her PhD in 2002. She become a professor at 2020 and at present is a Head of the Department of Histology and Embryology, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Departmental ERASMUS Coordinator at Faculty of Medicine, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences.

She guided 4 PhD students, increased her qualification in abroad multiple times and participated in 7 scientific projects.

Her main scientific interests relate to the work in experimental oncology using a chicken embryo chorioallantoic membrane model (evaluation of neoangiogenesis dynamics, tumor development, and efficacy of investigational medical preparations in vivo and in vitro using in vivo-biomicroscopy, histomorphometric, immunohistochemical, and other methods). Experimental studies explaining sex-related changes in the structure of organs of the immune system (thymus, spleen).

Co-author of 4 registered patents, co-author of 4 of patent applications, with co-authors published 4 textbooks, and 1 chapter of monograph.
