Helena Hervius Askling

Helena Hervius Askling, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor and Senior Consultant in Infectious Diseases at Karolinska Institutet and Region Stockholm, and Expert Coordinator for Infectious Diseases and Vaccine Preparedness at the Centre for Health Crises at Karolinska Institutet.

She has extensive clinical and public health experience in infectious diseases and vaccinology and is Principal Investigator for several academic and externally sponsored clinical vaccine trials. Her research focuses on vaccine immunogenicity and effectiveness in different populations, including immunosuppressed individuals, pregnant women and older adults, as well as vaccine implementation, health economics and clinical outcomes. She chairs the Vaccine Expert Group of the Swedish Society for Infectious Diseases Physicians and is the founder and course leader of Sweden’s first university-level vaccinology course.
